My grandfather and his his twin brother Lester Ree, and Lester Lee Manuel were longshormen yes they brought home bannanas on the stalk. Grand Ma BeBe had a resturant on 14th and 3rd Ave and I used to write the names of the men who ordered lunch on the bags and go with her to deliver them to Biscayne Blvd site of Miami Airliens Arena in a big black Buick. Today I am a proud member of the International Longshoremen's Association card number 794. There are quite a few ladies in the industry right now and we do the same work as the men. Proud to be Union. A Women's Place is in her Union

Your article is incorrect, this is not his second wife. This is his third wife, his second wife was Diane Barnes who he married in June 2005. Lamb believes that the wife is submissive to him and whatever he says is what goes. And as long as she does what he say, and have no opinion they will stay married. Thats if he does not beat her first for opening her mouth. Its amazing you have an article in the paper on domestic violence. He abused his first and second wife. However his second wife did not put up with his mean dark side and had him arrested for domestic violence. Verify this if you want to know the truth.

When will the administration address the following issues: the hiring of a known sex offender who worked for the college until retirement;the illegal drug/alcohol situation that the UFMDCC and the administration is protecting... with drugs being delivered to an office location; HR(CB) not taking seriously the information reported to by a part-time custodians, years ago, regarding the distribution of drugs on a campus;faculty filling out the student feedback forms, instead of the students and the list continues with known illegal and irregular activities that defy the printed policies and procedures of the college. Supervisors who discriminate and retalitate against Black employees are promoted and invited to private functions while Black employees who bother to report unfair situations or incidents are ostracized, written up and/or placed on a "Black List" for demotion, lack of college opportunities and harassment. One would have to stop and ask--- where are the District Board of Trustees in the equation of things? They have their heads buried in verbal and written reports from the ONE and ONLY... that all is well at MDC. They will not respond to reports and information submitted to them by employees with documented concerns. They report to EP rather than the other way around. Dr. Morris Johnson, God bless his soul, did not get his issues resolved before his death. Others have been fired, retired or given up in their attempt to get a fair, unbias solution to their concerns. When it takes HR, eight or nine months to complete an "investigation, what does that tell you? In one case known to me, HR intervened when they did not have the authority to interfere with a decision that had already been rendered by an academic dean. Then the report by HR FAILED to address the issues. Instead, it pointed fingers at the individual rather than the issues. Trust me, I have read their reports and it is sad at the cost to me as a taxpayer--- for the sloppy report put together by HR personnel. Sometimes, they claim not to know information, when a reporter ask them a question, for an example... that they are responsible for knowing and get paid to know... statistical information and gathered data.
Again, it will take outside federal agencies and expensive attorneys to deal with the unfair and unjust work related activities against Black employees at MDC. The above "culture" has existed so long at MDC that these people in authority, including the union leadership, actual think they are god and can do as they please, without regard to lawful rules, policies and procedures governing colleges. When situations have clearly been reported, when individuals have had their stories vertified in writing by witnesses, HR personnel will acquiesce and find the Black employee guilty of wrong doings, regardless to the evidence presented. In other words, some supervisors and leaders are rewarded for taking action against Black employees...even if they have worked for the college for two or three decades without a prior incident. Refer again to the documented story of the late Dr. Morris Johnson written above. There are many more such stories that can be documented by Black employees at MDC,collegewide.
This is Black History Month 2012. I encourage other Black employees to tell their story...All Is Not Well At Miami Dade College. It is time for an outside investigation of major proportion... since MDC receives federal funds.

Hi Kaila, I'm glad that there is finally some research that proves there is a link between praise & health. Our spirit, mind, and soul are all intertwined - Trinity. Another good point you made is that church gives us a place to share our unique talents. I'll be on my way shortly to church at Redeeming Word, bible study (www.RWCCI.org). Thank you for the article! God Bless!
