Man in wheelchair allegedly kills woman in gas station shooting
An elderly man opened fire on a woman after her car came into contact with his motorized wheelchair at a central Georgia service station, authorities said Wednesday. She died shortly afterward at a hospital despite the efforts of a crowd of people to aid her.
Police said Linda Hunnicutt, 65, was driving onto the gas pump bay of the service station in Macon at about 1 p.m. last Tuesday when her Buick Lucerne and the motorized wheelchair bumped. Hunnicutt stepped out of her vehicle, and the man in the motorized wheelchair pulled a handgun and fatally shot her, city police spokeswoman Jami Gaudet said. The suspect, 73-year-old Frank Louis Reeves, was apprehended in the gas station parking lot. He made a brief court appearance last Wednesday, and authorities said he was being held without bond on a murder charge at the Bibb County Jail.
A family reunion that almost ends in murder
When Artavious Malone, 16, of Wellington, Fla., accidentally ran into his estranged father, Archie Malone, on Nov. 9, there were no hugs. Instead, the teenager allegedly fired at least four shots at his father, who ran up the street to flee the bullets. There was immediate tension between the two, which started when Artavious bumped his dad in the shoulder, knocking Archie off-balance. He responded by smacking his son in the face.
At that point, Artavious left the liquor store, went to his car and that’s when he allegedly started firing the gun at his dad. The suspect told police that he didn’t fire the shots and just heard them when he was outside. Nevertheless, he was arrested and charged as an adult for attempted first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a Florida delinquent. He remains at the Palm Beach County Jail, where he was booked last Friday.
