FMU President Dr. Henry Lewis, III, joined other community leaders last weekend to raise money for charities helping Miami’s youth. Lewis bravely rappelled 200 meters from the JW Marriott Marquis Miami downtown. The signature event, Over the Edge, which was held in our city for the very first time, will benefit Miami Children’s Initiative — an organization aimed at improving the lives of children and families in Liberty City. The Marriott was a leading sponsor of the two-day event. Other daring participants that went over the edge included: Jaret Davis, Greenberg Traurig; and Nicole Henry, pop/soul singer. After in-kind donations and sponsorships, officials say they netted about $100,000 so far.
