Don’t meddle, stay in your lane Mr. Braman

As a Black man who has been involved in civil rights since my teenage days, I was proud of the significant progress we have made by electing four Black Commissioners to the Miami-Dade Board of Commissioners. Although we certainly do not control the thirteen member commission, Black people do have someone to speak for them and look out for their interests. Along comes Braman, a white millionaire who has decided that he knows what’s best for Black people. What gall! Some of the candidates he is backing such as Shirley Gibson and Allison Austin are good, but why replace one good person with another as soon as they get experience and power?
I suggest that Braman find some other good cause for his money and let Black people govern themselves.

At first I was made at Brayman, then when I heard his ad it seemed fair. You know all the commissioners(old ones) knew about the Marlons real earnings but they still gave mucho money for that stadium. Couldn’t that money have been to start businesses and create jobs. The stadium now is not even filled up . The commissioners all kept quite until they were exposed, this includes the black ones. I believe in term limits and they should not stay there 19 years. That is too long and they take our vote for granted. They think they can do what they want and the stadium was one example.

Marlins or not, we need term limits. The system is set up so that only wealthy people can run for office. Theres a need for new and younger blood in the county chambers.

Complacency is bad whether black or white. Term limits are needed to prevent career politicians who too often join the already rotten apples in the barrel and corrupt activity begins. I feel, four years is sufficient time for elected officials to prove themselves and for voters to determine If they meet the grade.
