Millions of Americans voted for the first time during the 2008 presidential election. The outcome made history when then-Senator Barack Obama was voted in as the 44th president of the U.S. This win was a true testament of democracy and the power of voting. Blacks and other minorities were not the only ones realizing the power of their votes, but the GOP witnessed it as
well. Allegedly on inauguration day in 2009, Republicans met and agreed to obstruct everything the president planned to do. Since then GOP governors and other GOP operatives have been strategizing to squash the votes of millions of Americans so there will not be a repeat in 2012 of what happened in 2008.
Republicans have put a great deal of effort into suppressing the Democratic vote in the 2012 presidential election. Reducing the number of working hours of the polls and purging eligible voters from the voter-registration lists are just some of the tactics used to intimidate and rob targeted Americans of their vote.
But if that doesn’t stop you from voting, Republicans are using anonymous groups to post intimidating billboards in Black and Latino communities threatening jail time to anyone who commits voter fraud. The GOP and their right wing extremists have been working feverishly to suppress the Democratic voters. However, their schemes to disenfranchise millions have not gone unnoticed or unchallenged this year.
It was voter rights activists and other leaders who successfully challenged Florida restrictive voter laws some of which were subsequently overturned by the courts. Now the rest is up to us voters to stop them in their tracks. We must be willing to do our part and go vote. Before Election Day Nov. 6th, we must make sure we take a valid and current picture ID. We must also be aware of any changes to our poll site. Remember that early voting begins for Miami-Dade County on Oct. 27th, lasting through Nov. 3rd from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The critics of President Obama’s first four years in office are equivalent to a drowning victim criticizing a rescue worker after being saved from a sinking ship. When Obama took office in 2008 the country was on a downward spiral. The automobile, financial and banking industries were all collapsing until the Obama administration intervened. It was the GOP who left this country and the economy in a mess and now they want to blame Obama for their failures and misdeeds.
Remember that during this election “we got the power” and we must continue to support the president in his quest to lead and govern. Let’s do it again and get out the vote in 2012. “Gonna do it again, do it again, do it again” (Staple Singers) and vote like we did in 2008.

Only when Jesus returns will we have a perfect government. Amen.
But how can we vote for Obama AND pray to God for mercy when Obama’s approval of so called “gay marriage” goes against our Lord and Savior Jesus?
Obama tried to use the Bible to support his pro gay marriage stance. Here’s Obama’s statement to Robin Roberts (Good Morning America): “We are both practicing Christians and obviously this position may be considered to put us at odds with the views of others,” he said. “But, you know, when we think about our faith, the thing at root that we think about is, not only Christ sacrificing himself on our behalf, but it’s also the Golden Rule, you know, treat others the way you would want to be treated.” (Check it out for yourself at http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/transcript-robin-roberts-abc-news-interview-president-obama/story?id=16316043#.UJApD47B4UU).
But, when we look at Jesus‘ conversation with the religious leaders regarding divorce we read this: ““Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’? So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate.” (Matthew 19:4-6)
So, Obama decided to use Scripture selectively in an attempt to back up his own anti Scriptural position. But, the Bible not back up so called “gay marriage” or abortion (see Psalm 139).
We must choose between Obama and the Bible. I choose the Bible.
