The Miami Dade Club of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Clubs [NANBPWC], Inc. will host the 54th Southeast District Conference on March 16-18, at the DoubleTree Miami Mart Airport Hotel & Conference Center, 711 NW 72nd Avenue, in Miami. The theme is “Sojourning Through History, Inspired by Challenges, Proclaiming Truth and Thriving in Our Future.”

NANBPWC, Inc., is a national non-profit civic and community service organization, whose mission is to promote and protect the interest of Black business and professional women; serve as a bridge for young people seeking to enter business and the professions; improve the quality of life in local and global communities; and to foster good fellowship. In addition, the organization provides a platform for scholarship support of promising young Black classical vocalists attending various colleges and universities who have demonstrated an interest in pursuing a career in vocal arts.

The Miami Dade Club was chartered in 1988 and since its inception, has been providing service to the local community. The organization supports many community initiatives, providing workshops and seminars to assist women to become financially independent and improve job readiness skills. In their meetings with women they stress the importance of health screenings and provide information to help lessen the impact of strokes, diabetes, and breast cancer in the Black community. They also give mentoring and scholarship support to local youth and assist business and professional women and youth in efforts to develop and promote their skills and careers.

“We share with other leaders and organizations the vision and commitment to building safer, stronger and better-educated communities,” said Jo Ann Byrd, president, Miami Dade Club, NANBPWC.

Approximately 125 women are expected to attend the conference. They will be traveling to Miami from Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, West Virginia and other cities in Florida.
