Miami Youth Ballet bring “The Nutcracker” to South Dade

Magical holiday dreams really do come true! A giant Christmas tree that grows before your eyes, valiant toy soldiers, twirling snowflakes, waltzing flowers, and visions of sugarplums. All this and more come to life on stage in this timeless production.

Classic ballet is perfect holiday event for the young and young-at-heart

Since the mid-20th century, Peter Tchaikovsky’s two-act ballet, “The Nutcracker,” has enjoyed tremendous success and has been performed by countless ballet companies. It has become particularly popular in the U.S. and become one of the most anticipated Christmas season classics known. From the “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” to the “March” and the “Russian Trepak,” orchestras have played the music while both youth and adult ballet companies have performed the dance.

The Miami Youth Ballet will take to the stage on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 2 – 3, for two 8 p.m. performances at the South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center. And with Tchaikovsky’s score, elaborate costumes, outstanding dancers and a heartwarming story, this promises to be one of the best ways to celebrate the holiday season.
