On Tuesday, Oct. 15, Delrish Lamar Moss, 46, a police officer for the City of Miami, was promoted to major from senior executive/commander.
“I am excited to take on the new challenges that I will have in this position,” he said. “I will still be in charge of community relations and you will still see me on television, but this position will also give me the chance to work more closely with the community than I have been able to do in the past.”
Moss, who grew up in Miami and has been an officer for 27 years, says it was his community that inspired him to dedicate himself to a life of service through police work.
“Wanting to serve the community is what made me want to become a police officer,” he said. “This new position will give me the chance to do more community outreach. This will be more of an outreach job more than just locking people up.”
