The world better make room because Sylvester Sanders, 15, says he has big plans for his future. But for now, hes making final preparations for his freshman year at Jackson Senior High School. Sylvester, who lives with his grandparents, gets excited when he starts to talk about his dreams. I love to dance and sing, he said. Also I love to rap, do gymnastics and play football and basketball. But Sylvester says his first love and primary focus is preparing himself for a career in dance. I would like to go to college and major in dance, he said. Then I would like to move on to a professional dance school. Sylvester was an intern this summer at The Miami Times. And while it was rewarding, he admits that working was not what he had in mind during his time away from school. I mainly wanted to hang with friends this summer, but I kind of got an offer that I couldnt refuse, he said. It was something my mom really thought would help me and so I decided to do my best. Sylvester worked in the circulation department. Its not what I want to do for my career but it was a good experience, he said. I did learn that doing office work isnt something I want to do in the future. But times are tough and I was able to earn some money and learn at the same time. By Jayvon RickettsMiami Times intern
