Carroll says women that look like me dont engage in relationships like that

Despite making national headlines, Lieutenant Governor Jennifer Carroll and Governor Rick Scotts offices have yet to release any official statements regarding accusations against Carroll for misconduct and an alleged sexual liaison with a female aide [Beatriz Ramos]. However, Carroll has appeared on different news mediums speaking for herself and maintaining her innocence. Her most recent comment on the Tampa Bay Channel 10 News has set Internet wires ablaze with commentaries and questions. In her appearance on Channel 10, Carroll explained that the allegations that she engaged in a romantic relationship with her travel aide Beatriz Ramos are not possible for one simple reason: Black women that look like me dont engage in relationships like that. Carroll said. People offended by Carrolls statement took to Twitter to convey their opinions and to visually demonstrate their disapproval. Inspired by a HuffPost Gay Voices reader @doriaroberts women, posted pictures of themselves with the hashtag #ThisIsWhatA LesbianLooksLike to illustrate that there is no officially assigned aesthetic for lesbians. One woman, Jaye, tweeted: Black women who are professional, well educated, well spoken and well dressed just might be lesbians too.

More about Carrolls accuser

Carletha Cole, the woman making the allegations against Carroll, worked as an administrative assistant for Carroll and alleges that she walked in on a sexual encounter between Carroll and Ramos. Carroll emphasizes that a woman like her in a 29-year marriage with children does not typically engage in affairs. But then, on the other hand, her accuser is both a grandmother and a minister. By their positions in life, it would seem, neither would have been involved in any misconduct. The Miami Times contacted Governor Scotts and Lieutenant Carrolls office numerous times via phone and e-mail but received a response from Carroll. However, in a late-breaking response, Scotts press secretary, Lane Wright, said the following as it relates to the accusations against Carroll: These accusations are outrageous we are focused on creating jobs.
