Will Trayvons cries for justice be heard?

Trayvon Martin was shot and killed by George Zimmerman and a neighbors call to 911 may have recorded his cry for help before he was fatally shot in the chest. When neighbors heard the gut-wrenching plea for help it spurred a series of calls to 911. Unfortunately, Trayvon Martin would not survive his encounter with George Zimmerman. His cry for help did not go unanswered. After the 911 calls, Sanford police officers did show up at the scene to no avail. Sadly, when they arrived they found the body of a child with a bag of skittles, a can of iced tea in his pocket and a bullet wound to the chest. His killer was also at the scene claiming self-defense. At this point everything went downhill and the focus shifted to protecting George Zimmerman who is the son of a retired judge. Was the investigation botched by the good ole boy network to protect one of their own? Did the fact that the shooters father is a retired federal magistrate lead to the mishandling of Trayvons murder? Was Zimmermans father called the night he murdered Trayvon? As news of Trayvons death began to circulate, people from around the world are answering his cry for help. Florida Congresswoman Frederica Wilson answered Trayvons cry for help by addressing his cold-blooded murder on the floor of the Capital and asking for the Justice Department intervene. Radio Host Michael Baisden has also answered Trayvons calls for help by addressing the issue on his syndicated talk show and calling for the arrest of Zimmerman. Reverend Al Sharpton also heard his cry and answered with a Justice for Trayvon Martin Rally which brought thousands of peaceful journalists and protesters from around the world to Sanford. President Barack Obama answered Trayvons cry by ordering the Justice Department to assist with the investigation. Some people choose to dance around the issue of racism and want to dismiss the fact that Trayvon was Black and his shooter is white. But racism is not always overt. Racial discrimination is often quite subtle. If you are not accustomed to living with it you may have a difficult time discerning it. But as the saying goes, if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, then it is a duck. We may never know all of the facts surrounding Trayvon Martins death. But we do know the obvious an unarmed Black teenage boy was brutally murdered by a white man and has not been arrested. Zimmerman admitted to killing Trayvon but still remains free. It is evident from Zimmermans 911 calls that he profiled, stalked and subsequently gunned down Trayvon Martin. Everything else is used to disguise the racism which motivated this killing. Hopefully the cries of Trayvon Martin will continue to haunt this nation until George Zimmerman is brought to justice and Trayvons call for help is finally answered with justice.
