New Dolphin QB has swagger

If I told you the least popular general manager in the NFL was the Miami Dolphins Jeff Ireland, chances are that would be a pretty safe assumption. Ireland has drawn the ire of Dolphin fans for the way this team has underperformed the past few seasons. No one, including coaches or free agents, seem to be interested in the aqua and orange. Ireland even has the audacity to ask potential draft picks about their mothers alleged line of work. There was even a protest at the teams facility while planes with signs flew above the stadium. But Ireland seemed uninterested in smoothing over his relationship with the media or fans. That could be changing. He has been making the rounds along with owner Stephen Ross to reach out to fans and media, saying things are about to change. In the recent draft, the Dolphins went for Ryan Tannehill from Texas A&M the first time theyve selected a QB in the first round since Dan whats his name back in 1983. There are questions of whether Tannehill was worthy of a number eight pick in the draft but at least this team for once seems to have a plan. Ireland is finally moving away from the prehistoric style of Parcells football and is doing things his way. This is a welcome sight to Dolphin fans that want to see big plays on both sides of the football. Explosive players too often have worn the jerseys of opponents rather than the home team at Sun Life Stadium. The new fins include Tannehill, tackle Johnathan Martin, tight end Michael Egnew and former UM standout running back Lamar Miller. We saw some of Irelands plan begin to take shape a year ago with the selection of speedy wide receiver Clyde Gates and playmaking H-back Charles Clay. Stranger things have happened, but maybe he is on some sort of mission to redeem himself in the eyes of the Dolphin faithful. If this plan of his begins to jell and this team can start winning again, maybe well find that Ireland isnt such a bad guy at all.
