Miami-Dade County Commissioner Audrey M. Edmonson gave away backpacks and school supplies at her 7th annual Back to School Fun Day and Health & Info Fair last weekend at the newly refurbished Olinda Park, 2101 NW 51st Street. Edmonson gave away 2,000 backpacks to children on a first-come, first-served basis. Children also received free immunizations from the Florida Health Department. Parents and adults had the opportunity to get free health check-ups for glucose, high blood pressure, HIV and others provided by a variety of health concerns. Many Miami-Dade County departments offered information on services and government resources. The children also had a “fun day” which included face painting, raffles, dance contests, bounce houses, free food and drinks.
