The boys and girls basketball all-stars flexed their muscles on Saturday during the Tournament of Champions 18th Annual Miami Dade vs. Broward All Star Game at Ransom Everglades, where the Dade teams swept Broward in all four games. Divided by public and private schools, the start of the momentum came after a comeback win for the Dade Public School girls, led by Norlands Brittany Dinkins who scored 26 of 36 points in the second half. This propelled Dade to comeback from a 17-point deficit to tie the game at 69 with just more than a minute left in the first half. Dade again led by Dinkins, won 73-69. The girls private school battle was no battle at all. A sloppy first half led into complete domination as the Dade team leaped to a 25 point lead in the second half eventually winning 71-40. The boys public school game again left the audience on the edge of their seats with back and forth play early on. However, Broward pulled ahead after a little more than 10 minutes and it looked as if Dade would not catch up. A series of fouls helped cut Browards lead to three before halftime, and the Dade boys kept that momentum to win 86-72. The last competition of the night was the boys private school game where Ransoms Sam Singer, was the high scorer with 16 points. A careless first half forced Dade to turn on their turbo-boosters and pushed them to outscore Broward 22-5 in the early onset of the second half. The boost led them to a decisive 26-point victory (81-55). By Akilah Laster firstname.lastname@example.org
