Bittersweet moment for departing commissioner

Friends and supporters of City Commissioner Michelle Spence-Jones joined her, along with her husband, Nate Jones and other family members at the

Little Haiti Cultural Arts Center last week to mark the end of her second term in office. Entertainment was provided by the Young Men’s Academy jazz band, Jamirah Gause, Miami Arts Charter School, the Rev. Avery Jones, Angel of Expressions and the NSL Dance Ensemble. Special remarks were given by Dr. Dorothy Fields, Timothy Barber, Mallory Kauderer, Marleine Bastien and Jan Mapou. City of Miami Police Department Major Delrish Moss served as the master of ceremonies. Spence-Jones thanked the over 100 people who showed up for the evening and said, “in reflecting on my six years of service, we have kept our promises to the people of District 5.”

Moss added that while her term in office was over, “I am sure we will be seeing more of Michelle Spence-Jones.”
