Congratulations to our new first family at Bethune-Cookman University [B-CU], Dr. Edison Jackson and his wife, Mrs. Florence Jackson, who celebrated 50 years of marriage on Oct. 19th. They are the parents of two children. The Jacksons are originally from Heathsville, Virginia. They were in the first grade together and Florence’s mother was their teacher. They would eventually become childhood sweethearts attending the same church and playing in the high school band. While they went to different colleges, they ended up getting married two years before they graduated. Mrs. Jackson was a business major and a member of
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Dr. Jackson will officially become B-CU’s sixth president at 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 16 in B-CU’s Gertrude Heyn Chapel. For a complete list of inauguration activities visit: www.cookman.edu.
Francina Lewis-Robinson is in Washington, D.C. along with other family members to attend Lola Lewis’ funeral. Lola was the wife of the late Floyd Lewis. Sympathy to their family.
The American Association of Retired People spent four days in Atlanta, Ga. last week. Among those in attendance were Nancy Dawkins, Elry Sands-Taylor, Mary McCray, Martha C. Day and Judy Nelson. The next meeting will be held in Boston, Mass.
Kendra Clark now lives in Maryland due to her new job location. Good luck on your new job location and new environment.
