Liberty City gets lesson in healthcare reform

Miami-Dade County [M-DC] Commissioner Audrey M. Edmonson joined State Senator Dwight Bullard and State Representative Cynthia Stafford recently at a public forum on healthcare reform and the Affordable Care Act. The informative session was held at the Joseph Caleb Center in Liberty City. Guest panelists included: Janet Perkins, executive director, M-DC Office of Countywide Healthcare Planning; Dr. David Woolsey, physician, Jackson Memorial Hospital; Monica Russo, executive vice-president, SEIU Local 1991; and Annie Neasman, RN, MS, president/CEO of Jessie Trice Community Health Center. United Teachers of Dade President Federick Ingram also attended the event. Residents were able to enroll in a plan the Wednesday after the forum.
