Miami Times staff report | 4/16/2014, 1:11 p.m.

One woman was killed and two others injured Monday when a man opened fire on customers at the King Brother’s Market in Liberty City before fleeing the store.

Two of the victims were men who were shot in the arm and in the back. They were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital where they were expected to survive the injuries.

The other victim was a 62-year-old woman who died after being shot in the stomach. Her name has not been released as of Tuesday. Police do not know whether the victim was an intended target.

The shooting surprised dozens of people who were shopping at the grocery store located at 1304 NW 62nd Street. The store is just across the street from The Liberty Square housing projects known as Pork and Beans to area residents.

Police do not have detailed description of the gunman, who ran away immediately after the shooting. They are reviewing video surveillance tapes outside the store for any clues or leads. Although there were people in the store during the shooting, police are still looking for witnesses.

Police were busy combing the area Monday evening as they cordoned off the area with yellow crime scene tape.
