God is good even when things look bad

Life has a way of allowing you to view it in two categories, good or bad. We will either view life as if things will work out for our good or take a view of what I call the “Charlie Brown- why is everybody always picking on me?”
The psalmist in Psalm 73:1-2 started out with a “Charlie Brown” view, things are good for everybody else but me.
1 Truly God is good to Israel, To such as are pure in heart.
2 But as for me, my feet had almost stumbled; my steps had nearly slipped.
Haven’t we all felt this way at one time or another, that everybody else was happy and prospering and all we do is struggle.
One of the problems we face is comparing our life to someone else’s. Sometimes we are unaware of what that person had to go through to be happy.
The psalmist says that “He was envious at the foolish, when he saw the prosperity of the wicked.”
In verses 4-9, the psalmist lists reasons why he was envious; 1) they are not afraid of death
They seem to be above the law they are greedy and rude.
The psalmist calls these the ungodly that prosper in the world and they increase in riches.
Like so many of us we question rather or not living for God is worth it? The psalmist wants to say it out loud, is God good even when things look bad?
Then the psalmist went to the sanctuary of God and there he was taught that God is in control of everything, and then he understood.
The psalmist knew who was in control and that he would continue to stay with the Lord, because the Lord was and always will be there to guide and counsel us.
Even when your heart fails, you need to know that God is your strength and your portion forever.
Yes God is good even when things look bad.
