Charles Hadley Park Youth Center will be receiving a makeover courtesy of Commissioner Keon Hardemon.

"The community had been demanding park improvements and expansion for years," said Hardemon. "We have literally, hundreds of children who actively use the park on a regular basis and this will insure their activities continue regardless of the weather. Additionally, it will allow for the expansion of programs currently housed at the park."

Hadley Park, located on N.W. 50th Street and 12th Avenue, is a popular fixture in Liberty City.

Its beautification process includes a new 23,000 square foot youth center that will include an indoor basketball court, exercise room with adjacent lockers and restroom and classrooms.

The Meek Senior Center’s lobby and reception area will be connected by a new covered drop-off area.

The renovations will include new meeting rooms, a computer room, office spaces and storage.

Other park improvements include a field parking lot and signage with ADA concrete ramps.

Hadley Park's makeover plans are expected to bring approximately 100-150 construction worker positions to Liberty City.

The improvements were funded by a $6.5 million allocation from the City of Miami Commission and the Homeland Security Bond Initiative.
