If Miami-Dade County continues with its actions of capping or limiting the funds that it provides to the CRA, it would be the most devastating blow to Overtown since the Interstate 95 was built through its community destroying its prosperity. As the CRA Chairman and District 5 Commissioner, I have made it my mission to champion the eradication of slum and blight within Overtown by ensuring that the void Miami-Dade County capping ordinance is not adhered to.

This is not an easy battle and I need the support of the entire community including civic, religious, and government leaders to save Overtown. Commissioner Audrey Edmonson and I have agreed to meet to discuss how we can ensure the redevelopment and prosperity of a community that is near and dear to both of our hearts. As residents, I need you to assist me in my mission by contacting your Miami-Dade County Commissioners and Mayor and advocating for the saving of Overtown. More specifically, I need you to demand that Miami-Dade County discontinues its practice of capping its contributions to the CRA by not adhering to the void 1982 ordinance. We cannot idly stand by and allow for the ravishing of our dear Overtown once again. Please join me in my mission to redevelop Overtown.
