When you think senior prom this isn’t exactly what comes to mind. On Saturday, June 28 at the Brownsville Transit Village [5255 NW 29 Ave] seniors stepped out in their Sundays best to relive a moment from their pasts – prom.
Marketing Coordinator for Florida Healthcare Plus, Henrietta Lacey is no stranger to the Liberty City community. Lacey decided to put
this ‘Red Carpet Senior Prom’ together to promote community outreach and show appreciation to the senior citizens in the neighborhood.
Lacey collaborated with the seniors from Gulfview Apartments in Sunrise, Miami. The oldest party-goer to arrive was 87-years-young.
“I’ve been to almost every church and senior facility throughout the community,” Lacey said.
“I’ve hosted fish fry’s, luncheons, health fairs and free screenings.”
During the event, finger-foods were available in the dining area of the reception hall. Plaques were handed out to the prom king and queen. Also awards were given for the best dressed male, female and couple in attendance.
Seniors got the chance to dance and enjoy their dates and family.
“I’m looking forward to hosting many more events in the future through Florida Healthcare Plus,” Lacey said. “We are planning to make this an annual event.”
