Chatter That Matters

Congratulations go out to Christina Garcia and her mother, Tina, for planning her bridal soiree at Arcola Lakes Park, a few blocks from where she grew up around Miami Central High School. As guests walked into the building, the room had been transformed into the ‘feel’ of Miami with pictures on the walls of American Airlines, The Miami Heat; downtown Brickell Avenue; and The Fontainebleau. Each table was neatly decorated with green and yellow tall mugs of beach sand. Members of the bridal party led the guests to their seats as music played.
The maids of honor and bridesmaids spoke about the bride and her accomplishments since graduating from Miami Central. Afterward, guests dined on a delectable seafood menu of shrimp, conch and crabs. The bride announced her wedding for Saturday, August 2, at Disney World in Orlando. Guests in attendance included: Artis Johnson, Judy Johnson, Feezah Ruffin, Cora Ruffin, Isula Bryant, Tracy Sam, who flew in from Houston, TX, Ingrid Hall, and Spenser, wedding planner.
Dr. Joretha Capers, Senior Pastor, Ebenezer UMC, has announced that Dr. Devin D. Brown, a native of Jacksonville, has accepted the position of Pastor of Operations at the church. Dr. Capers served as his mentor along with Dr. George E. McRae. Last Sunday Brown delivered an electrifying sermon to a standing ovation, which clearly registered their accomplishments. Brown and his lovely wife Felicia reside in Miami.
The wedding of the century, recently, between Dena Person and Vivaldi Tulysse, at the Western Colonnade in Coral Gables was a lovely affair. Her mother Cheryl, sisters Ariene and Lori penned poems telling of her falling in love for the first time during the officiating by Rev. Dwayne Holloway. The bridal party consisted of: best man Jevens Degage,
Lori Person, maid of honor, bridesmaids Leomasa Lovett, Ariene Person, Helessa Tulysse, Betinne Tulysse-Levett; groomsmen Steven Gelmain, Redny Delee, Johnathan Person and Bernard Joseph; flower girls, Hyesha Green-Washington and Khiee Tumbling and ring bearer Kiment Tumbling. The parents of the bride are Judge Ralph and Cheryl Person. Seneque Jean-Jacques and Margret Jean-Jacques are the groom’s parents. Congratulations to the couple and their proud parents.
After the ceremony, the wedded couple saluted each other with an extended kiss that moved the guests to applaud. Ushers led guests to the reception area where toasts and dancing began. Fourth of July celebrations gave Andre Person the opportunity to talk about his years of military service in Iraq, receiving several purple crosses for his bravery and being thankful for being alive and celebrating with his family. Smaller activities were done by Claudia Slater, Carolyn King, Mark Lockwood, Dee Holley, Earl Daniels (caught a 30-lb fish in his back yard), Dr. Edwin T. Demeritte, James and Margie Fayson, Ransom and Helen Hill, R’Shan Fayson, Basil Binns, Heather Paschal, Martha Pitts, Anita McGruder, and Olivia Hudson.
