Stephanie Sylvestre has joined the Children's Trust.

Sylvestre will serve as Chief Operations and Programs Officer, a position that will strive to improve the lives of children and families in Miami-Dade County by making strategic investments in their future.

Throughout Miami-Dade County, Sylvestre is best known for her volunteerism and community activism. In the past, she has held leadership positions for Communities in Schools, New Theatre and United Way IMPACT Council.

Sylvestre is credited with turning around the Belafonte TACOLCY Center, a non-profit organization in Liberty City. During that period, Sylvestre implemented a culture of responsibility and accountability. She also helped draft the center's strategic plan while upgrading its IT infrastructure and cutting costs by 50 percent.

In nearly four years, Sylvestre has led a diverse team of women volunteers in building seven Habitat for Humanity homes in Liberty City and continues to serve on the board of Habitat for Humanity. She also serves as the Human Resource Chair for the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force Miami Recognition Dinner.

For her accomplishments she was awarded with a Leadership and Mentoring Award from the Caribbean Bar Association and a National Sojourner Truth Meritorious Service Award from the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Club.

A native of Belize, Sylvestre's professional career is marked with leadership positions in corporate America and the non-profit sphere. She's worked in the private sector with the purchasing cooperative for the SUBWAY® franchisees. She's also lent her expertise to Burger King Corporation and Cambridge Technology Partners.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from the University of Southern California and a Masters in International Studies and International Economics from the University of Miami.
