Jefferson Reaves hosts health fair in Overtown

The Jefferson Reaves, Sr. Health Center, 1009 N.W. 5th Ave. in Overtown invites the community their Community Health Fair. The clinic is a comprehensive primary care clinic affiliated with Jackson Health System, for adults and children.

The fair will address wellness and health issues facing the residents of Overtown and surrounding neighborhoods.  There will be free testing for blood pressure, blood glucose, pregnancy and HIV, as well as free dental screenings for children ages 12 and younger.

Free fruits and vegetables will also be provided by Farm Share.

The Miami Gardens Super Soul Steppers will perform their signature “step line dancing.” Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a 30-minute Zumba fitness class. Educational materials and a list of community resources will also be available.

This is a wonderful opportunity for the community to tour the facility, meet with doctors, and learn about fitness and wellness while connecting with local health care organizations on March 22 from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.

The Jefferson Reaves, Sr. Health Center is a focal point for healthcare services in the Overtown Community. It is committed to the dignity, social well-being and health of the community and the patients who are served at the clinic.

The center offers comprehensive primary care services and, through its affiliation with Jackson Health System, facilitates referrals to Jackson Memorial Hospital for specialized services. Care and treatment is provided in three different languages: English, Spanish and Creole.
