The Miami Children’s Chorus invites the whole community to come and sing-along with them on April 12th at the North Shore Park and Youth Center, 501 72nd St. on Miami Beach.
When asked why are they inviting the entire community, their reply was “We want to get everyone singing again.”
MCC has a vision of a community where children can explore the joy of singing. They have proudly served South Florida for nearly 50 years. The organization continues to champion the choral world, providing a wide range of high-quality arts programming for children, their families, music educators, and audiences in Miami-Dade County.
The second installment of All Together Now will take place from 11:30 a.m.—12:30 p.m. and it promises to be a great event. All Together Now is MCC’s series of free community sing-alongs presented in underserved communities of Miami-Dade County, and the project looks to get Miami singing again. At All Together Now your entire family will be making new friends while exercising their vocal cords. The event is sure to bring out the inner child in everyone and is electrifyingly uplifting, as all will be engaged in humming, clapping, and singing to songs that can be enjoyed throughout a lifetime.
In addition to the sing-along portion, the event will feature performances by the MCC Beginning Chorus and by the children from Leadership Learning Center and Playing the Game of Life who have been participating in MCC’s choral outreach project titled We Will Sing.
We Will Sing is a project created by the MCC to further its reach and impact on the community. It is a free semester-long choral experience that promotes: singing by school aged children, the preservation of songs that reflect our multicultural heritage, and a unified sense of community. The goal is to provide access to quality arts programming for children who otherwise may not have the opportunity. In weekly rehearsals, children are learning to find their voices, exploring how to warm-up, read music, and most importantly how to work together to achieve a common goal. They also get a chance to showcase their newfound skills and to experience first hand, the rewards of a sustained and dedicated effort.
MCC promises to sing songs that tell the stories of our communities. Check them out and see if they do that.
Mothers get special attention
Sunday, May 11, at 5 p.m..why not give your mother or mother-figure the gift of song? Take her to hear and be serenaded with the joyous sounds of 60 plus children singing in one of Miami’s premier performance halls, the beautiful New World Center in Miami Beach. The concert, fittingly titled Cantare, will feature MCC’s Avanzato Ensemble performing a cappella, with piano and chamber orchestra accompaniment, choreography by Dance Now and the world premier of two works commissioned by the MCC from composers Dr. David Brunner and Latin Grammy winner Nestor Torres.
Tickets go on sale in April and are $25 for adults and $10 for senior citizens, children, and students.
