5000 Role Models host conference at Sun Life Stadium

As high school seniors prepare to march down the aisle in their caps and gowns, many are still undecided on what to do after graduation.

The 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project in conjunction with The Miami Dolphins Foundation, will hold its annual Finished High School. Now What? Senior High School Conference at Sun Life Stadium on Thursday, May 15 9 a.m.  Congresswoman Frederica Wilson (D-24) and the White House Initiative on



Educational Excellence for African-Americans and Hispanics will host a roundtable discussion, Mentorship:  Supporting the Holistic Development of Boys and Men of Color:  A 5000 Role Models of Excellence Case Study.

The White House roundtable series is designed to promote positive and asset based approaches to support the learning and development of students of color.  The Miami roundtable will highlight the 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project which actively supports the cognitive social and emotional development of boys and men of color.

Over 950 Role Model students from various Miami-Dade County Public High Schools will participate in life changing workshops to include the following topics – college preparation and financial aid; career development; the consequences of being arrested; and Role Model graduates will share success stories.  Miami Dolphins and Sun Life Stadium personnel will provide an overview of the business of sports.
