An evening of art, performances and charity
Music bounced off the walls as young Miami-based professionals walked through the entrance of Club Fifty in the Viceroy hotel. A small collective of fashionable women gathered around the prize table to admire the prizes that were being raffled off through out the night. Winners of the evening could end up walking away with Beat headphones, a dinner at Grand Luxe Cafe, a private party at Kiehls, Nina Stones or a dinner at Duffy’s Sports Grille to name a few of the prizes. On the other side of the night club one-of-a-kind art pieces adorned the night club’s walls in honor of the Art Basel festivities that were taking place.
Peace on Earth
While the audience was drawn to different elements at the event, everyone there had a common goal — to raise money for the non-profit organization, Planting Peace. The organization has a project called “Stomping the Worm,” which provides de-worming medications to poverty stricken areas of the world. Gabriela McAdams founder of “For The Cause Events” organized the event. McAdams said that she felt compelled to lend her voice and time to the cause.
“I met Kelly Ammar who traveled to Haiti with the organization [Planting Peace] and I loved their story and their mission,” McAdams said. “As I did more research, I realized how much they did with so few resources and I was inspired to help. The fact that 1.5 cents can save a life is motivating in itself. I’m so happy to be able to help organizations like Planting Peace gain more exposure and support for their cause.”
Serena ChaCha, contestant on the upcoming season of RuPaul’s “Drag Race,” hosted the event which consisted of a silent auction, raffles, an artistic dance performance by Elemental Expressions Entertainment and live music by Elastic Bond.
