The United Teachers of Dade under the guidance of President Fedrick Ingram, recently saluted their Heroes of Veterans, Teachers and Stewards of the Year at the banquet room of Miami Dade College. Miami-Dade County was well represented during homecoming at Albany State University in Albany, Ga., during the weekend of Oct. 17-20. The late Tanya Martin Pekel left a wonderful legacy that should be recognized in the community. The daughter of Montez Martin and Marcia Martin Saunders, Tanya and her sister Terrie attended Morningside and Miami Shores Elementary. She was recognized last year at Miami Shores Elementary.
