Our civil rights history has taught us that a strong and vibrant public education system is key to the future of our children. As we enter into 2016, this is as true as ever. Yet our public schools continue to be a target for those who seek to defund, destabilize and divide our children’s bridge to opportunity. United Teachers of Dade is the frontline guardian of our public school system. They have taken on Florida Legislators who have relentlessly sought to undermine our public schools by shifting monies to private businesses, shrinking public education funding, and pulling support and resources from our teachers, paraprofessionals, office clericals and security monitors. This is wrong and unfair to our students and their parents.
Over 600 teachers, education support professionals, and local and national business partners Monday converged on the Bank United Center at the University of Miami to hear from Union President Fedrick C. Ingram.
